The CVKACA Disability Family Support Program exists to serve Korean American families who are raising children and adults with developmental, intellectual, or physical disabilities. Our mission is to:
1️⃣ Family Consultation & Case Support
One-on-one consultations (in Korean & English)
Guidance on navigating school IEPs, regional center services, and healthcare systems
Referral to local service providers, special education attorneys, and therapy centers
2️⃣ Educational Workshops & Seminars
Parent training: understanding disabilities, advocacy, service eligibility
Guest speakers: special education law, medical care, transition planning
Financial planning for long-term care (SSI, Medi-Cal, special needs trusts)
3️⃣ Family Support Groups
Monthly peer support meetings (parents supporting parents)
Small group discussions for sharing personal experiences and emotional support
Counseling referrals for stress, burnout, and caregiver fatigue
4️⃣ Children & Youth Activity Program
Sensory-friendly social events, seasonal celebrations, art/music therapy workshops
Inclusive group outings for children with disabilities and their siblings
5️⃣ Community Outreach & Advocacy
Educating the broader Korean American community about disability inclusion
Collaborating with schools, churches, and regional centers to reduce stigma
Encouraging community acceptance of individuals with disabilities
Korean American families who are caring for a child or adult with a developmental, intellectual, or physical disability.
Autism, Down syndrome, ADHD, learning disabilities, intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, genetic disorders, mobility impairments, sensory processing challenges, and more.
All programs are offered free of charge. Some specialized workshops may request a small donation to cover materials.
Yes. We welcome all families at any stage of the disability journey, regardless of existing services.
Yes. Most of our consultations, workshops, and support groups are offered in Korean, with English interpretation as needed.

Yes. We offer coaching and advocacy support to help parents understand IEPs and prepare for meetings.
We are working to provide supervised care for children during some workshops. Availability will be announced in advance.
Yes. Siblings are encouraged to participate in inclusive events and build friendships.
We welcome volunteers, donations, professional guest speakers, and corporate partnerships to expand our services.
